Creating a Housework Schedule

We all know or at least can dream of that blissful feeling of a perfectly clean house and sitting back to admire it while sipping on that hot, yes, I said hot, cup of tea!!!

Well this week, despite a toddler (who does NOT like to nap- check back here for ways I entertain my inquisitive toddler, coming soon!!), a border collie (who has plenty of bounce and hair!!) plus driving a school bus for 4 hours a day, I made a plan to accomplish it then maintain it and here I am to share it.

After all the whining that 3600 sq. foot of house is way too much cleaning and organizing I decided to make a plan and roll it out and yes I did find time for me each day to just throw my feet up, bask in tranquility of silence and enjoy that lovely, warm (and well earned) cup of tea!! 

Here is my housework schedule which will be becoming a part of my home command center (check back as I share updates on my home command center):

5 Tips for creating your own Housework Schedule:

1. Start from the front door as this is the first impression when people arrive and will give you a more positive outlook on your home and housework as you come home.

2. When cleaning and tidying work from top to bottom, ceiling to floor so you don't miss anything.

3. On laundry day focus on the chores on the same floor as your washer and dryer so you're not wasting time running up and down the stairs to change loads and to fold laundry. My laundry is on the main floor, hence my schedule.

4.  When you spot one off or additional items that you feel need doing that week, don't get distracted from the tasks you are working on, add them to Friday's to do list so you don't forget then continue with what you are working on. I have a honey do list on our fridge for the jobs I spot which my hubby needs to do so I don't forget those but I don't have to nag him he can work through them at his leisure.

5. Keep your master bedroom in spotless shape, this is your personal retreat and you want to be able to relax there without anything hanging over you!!

I suggest printing your housework schedule and displaying it in a photo frame as part of your command center and using a dry erase marker to check off as you accomplish each task that week.
